Ashbury Terrace Manse
Exuding a captivating blend of moody sophistication and edgy refinement, Ashbury Terrace represents a comprehensive transformation of a craftsman home in San Francisco's historic Ashbury neighborhood, expertly orchestrated by Atelier Oleana. The homeowners – a young family and their black lab, Cala – commissioned Jain to transform the architectural bones of their primary residence into a space that artfully balances the husband's affinity for rich pattern and vibrant color with the wife's predilection for serene shades of blue. The resulting design brief called for a contemporary, sophisticated, and luxurious aesthetic infused with elements of British punk, brought to life through sumptuous materials including Dedar velvets and Pierre Frey silks, architectural statements such as a dramatic curved staircase and a sweeping wall of handcrafted built-ins with a custom ladder in the library, and provocative art pieces that command contemplation – including Katherine Gray's sculptural works sourced from The Future Perfect, an Aldo Chaparro stainless steel sculpture that sits atop the living room's striking Sahara Bronze fireplace, and a freestanding figure by Antoine de Saint Pierre that became the conceptual anchor for the entire dining room design.
The completed residence stands as a masterful symphony of texture, color, and form – a home where heritage architecture and contemporary design coexist in perfect harmony.
